Sunday Selections

March 29, 2015

Hello from Australia my friends! This week’s post is coming to you from the land down under, where I am super lucky to be spending the next two weeks catching up with some pretty special people. After a surprisingly comfortable 23-hour trip from Berlin to Melbourne, the past few days have been a bit of a whirlwind full of smiley reunions. It’s been over a year since I last visited home so I’m pretty excited about making the absolute most of the next fortnight before heading back over to Berlin.

To add to this especially special Sunday, it is also Ben’s 30th birthday today! We celebrated, firstly, by devouring arguably the best Eggs Benedict in the world cooked up by Ben’s dad, before heading into the city to enjoy one of Melbourne’s best coffees. The afternoon involved a little stroll around our old neighbourhood (Fitzroy), a couple of hours spent soaking up the sun in the Fitzroy Gardens, late afternoon drinks at our favourite local pub and then dinner with the family at Le Bon Ton. Sunshine, family and good food amounted to a pretty great birthday in Ben’s book.

Here are this week’s favourite links:

WATCH: Are you following along with Louis Cole’s adventures on his YouTube channel, Fun For Louis? You need to be! With over one million subscribers, his videos of his adventures around the world sure are pretty inspiring.

READ: Have you guys seen the calibre of entries in this year’s Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s biggest photography competition? Check out these 36 extraordinary entries.

EAT: Now that Ben and I are back home for a visit, our families are indulging us with all of our favourite meals. I’ve been missing real spice over in Germany and so dishes like this pork curry with green chillies and tamarind by Rick Stein really make me feel at home.

MAKE: I love this creative, alternative DIY wooden ladder magazine rack. What a great feature!

BUY: This handmade Italian deer leather travel wallet is definitely on the wishlist. What a stylish way to keep your travel documents organised.

GO: I can’t wait to head down to the Mornington Peninsula next week for some beach action. Thankfully, the lovely Heidi from Apples Under My Bed has put together a pretty rad guide to the best places to visit along this stretch of coastline. I’ll be hitting a few of these up for sure.

Stay tuned for a little look at Melbourne later on in the week! x
