Sunday Selections

November 22, 2015

Hey there Sunday! What have you been up to this weekend? Please tell me that it has involved red wine and chocolate. Mine has. But I’ve been healthy too so it’s balanced.

Last week we finally took the plunge and booked our flights back to Australia in January. Man, were they pricey! We managed to snag somewhat of an okay deal if we make a couple of stopovers on the way back so we’re flying via Oslo and Tokyo. I’m beyond excited to spend a couple of days in Japan again. I was there over six years ago and it’s one of my favourite places in the world. So what’s the plan with all of this? Am I leaving Berlin? Am I returning to Australia to settle down? I promise to share all the deets with you in a blog post soon, my friends.

What else? Not much. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather this past week which has left me unfocused and unproductive. I’ve been taking it slow, which I’m so grateful to be able to do. Listening to my body and not having to rush off to work in a company every day has meant that my body is fighting this little bug quite nicely and I don’t feel like I’ve been hit by a truck like I would have if I was still working a job I hated. So grateful for this little blessing!

Here are this week’s favourite links:

WATCH: Time away from work is so important, not only in a personal sense, but for the advancement of your career as well. Stefan Sagmeister takes a year long sabbatical every seven years to rejuvenate, travel and return feeling inspired and fresh. Some of his most creative ideas were born during his time in Bali and, in fact, all of the creative projects that filled the next seven years came out of that one year ‘off’. His TED talk on ‘The power of time off’ stresses the importance of sabbaticals. Have you ever taken one?

READ: The lives of travel bloggers can look glamorous but it’s not always sunshine, rainbows and awesome Instagram photos. Travel blogger, Alyssa Ramos from ‘My Life’s a Movie’, exposes the ugly side of being a travel blogger.

EAT: It’s almost time for mulled wine season! Make your own here.

MAKE: It’s Thanksgiving this week for those who celebrate it. I love this budget-friendly, colourful way to decorate the table.

BUY: These pencils. Because every girl needs pencils like these.

GO: If you read last Sunday’s post, you would have seen that I was struggling to decide whether or not to keep my plans to visit Paris last week. After much toing and froing, we ended up rescheduling our visit and are flying out this Tuesday instead. Stay tuned on Instagram and Snapchat (@deptofwandering) for my experience.

Much love x
