December 6, 2015

Hello weekend! Did this week fly by or is it just me? In fact, this whole year has just whizzed by. I feel like it should still be September or something, not three weeks until Christmas. What happened there? I spent most of the week doing boring things like sorting out health insurance payments and organising paperwork in preparation for leaving Berlin in a month. WAIT. A month? Time is really running away from me. The prospect of going home so soon makes me jittery with excitement but also heart-flutteringly anxious. So. Much. To. Do. Oh and you know how I told you about how we’d booked flights in early January with a couple of stopovers on the way home? Slight complication there which may have added to my stress levels just a little bit. If you are on the mailing list, you’ll be getting the insider update of what went down next week, so be sure to sign up via the sidebar for that funny stressful little story coming to your inbox next week!

Oh yeah. Did I mention that I am spending the weekend skiing in the French Alps at Val d’Isere with Powder WhiteSeriously, how beautiful is this place? Be sure to check out Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat (@deptofwandering) for all the updates!

Here are this week’s favourite links:

WATCH: Famed travel writer Rick Steves has spent a third of his adult life living out of a suitcase. In his TED talk on ‘The Value of Travel’, he reflects about the value of travel experiences and how it has challenged ideas he had about the basic truths of the world.

READ: You don’t need anybody’s permission to live a creative life. In fact, creativity is inherent in all of us. I came upon this uplifting piece by writer, Elizabeth Gilbert, this week about pursuing your passions without feeling guilty or as though you’re not good enough.

EAT: Salted peanut butter caramel chocolate truffles. No more needs to be said.

MAKE: I can’t believe it’s December already. This year has flown and it seems like each year is passing by faster than the last. Christmas is right around the corner now. Instead of buying gifts from stores this year, why not gift something edible and made with love instead? Here are 27 Genius DIY Food Gifts.

BUY: Berlin has descended into a dreary and grey … and all I want to do is turn the heaters up, wear this and sip on hot chocolate.

GO: I’m so excited at the prospect of an Australian summer for the first time in three years! Polkadot Passport’s travel diary about Australia’s east coast has me counting the days til I’m back down under!

Have a happy week!
