Auf Wiedersehen Berlin and konichiwa Tokyo! After a busy few weeks, Ben and I have finally managed to stuff our lives in Berlin into two 30kg cases and are en route to Melbourne to chase down some sun (read the full story about why we left Berlin here). To break up the nightmarishly long flight, we decided to take a little detour via Tokyo on the way, our favourite city in Asia.

Despite battling the fog of jetlag (I’ve been waking up around 5am and feeling dead tired come 3pm), the past couple of days have been jam-packed full of fun. We’ve been spending our time exploring the urban jungles of Shinjuku, Shibuya and Asakusa, eating basically everything we lay our eyes on (because it is ALL so freakin delicious) and exploring the bustling Tsukiji fish market. We bought a new lens, a Japanese knife and Ben went a little nuts over the multi-floor anime and manga stores.

Instead of posting a Sunday Selections this week, I thought I’d post a Tokyo sneak peek so you can get a quick little snapshot of what we’ve been up to. On Tuesday we leave Tokyo on an overnight flight to Melbourne — I can’t believe how soon I’ll be seeing my family and dear friends! I’ll be taking some time out to soak it all in in for a couple of weeks after I arrive, so be sure to check in on social media for updates since the blog will be a little quieter than usual. In the meantime, I would LOVE if you could take a minute to fill out the 2016 Reader Survey to help make The Department of Wandering super duper fantastic this year!
