Wanderlust Wednesday, Goa

After travelling through chaotic northern India for almost three weeks a few years ago, I wanted to conclude my trip to this vibrant country with a visit to Goa, a southern state on India’s eastern coast. Northern India had slapped all of my senses awake; I had had some of the most memorable experiences in all of my travels up there, but after a few weeks I was both physically and mentally exhausted. A beach escape was in order. With its sparkling beaches, gently swaying palms and relaxed vibe, Goa was the perfect place to recharge before I was due to fly to Kathmandu in Nepal to begin a trek a week later. Keen to avoid the parties in the centre, we stayed far south in two sleepy beach towns: Agonda and Palolem, which were peaceful and quiet. We spent our days sipping cocktails, wandering up and down the beach, kayaking and rented a motorcycle to explore a nearby Portuguese fort and temples nearby; the perfect way to end such a memorable trip to India.
