Happy New Year! I hope yours was a fun one. We were lucky enough to spend this past New Year’s Eve with our best friends who were visiting all the way from Australia, making for a pretty special night. Actually, I’ll go so far to say that December 31st, 2014 was, without a doubt, the best New Year’s Eve ever. You know how this night can often be a disappointment because nothing seems to live up to our expectations? This was most definitely not the case this time around. Nope. It was the greatest. Some other lovely friends hosted a fabulous party in their rooftop apartment which made for the perfect vantage point for firework watching and, of course, exploding! It won’t be a night I’ll be forgetting anytime soon, that’s for sure.

New Year's Eve fireworks, Berlin

Here are this week’s favourite links:

WATCH: The easiest way to describe to outsiders just how crazy Berlin is on New Year’s Eve is to liken it to a warzone. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself! This youtube video documents the twenty minutes after midnight filmed from a car driven through the main hotspots of the city.

READ: While I’m not one to devise new year’s resolutions, I admit that ‘Desiderata’, a poem by American writer Max Ehrmann in 1927 might be the perfect daily mantra for the new year.

EAT: I woke up last Monday morning to a winter wonderland. Berlin had had it’s first real snowfall and the city looked magical! Did you see on Instagram? I headed out to play for a while and snap some photos. A steaming mug of hot chocolate would have been lovely to come home to.

MAKE: I love this simple easy hanging rope shelf as an alternative for drilling multiple screws in the wall to display prints. Perfect for renters.

BUY: These handcrafted winter gloves are warm and super cute.

GO: We’re hoping to book our flights back home to Australia for a visit very soon and in the meantime I’ve been scrolling through Yuriy’s and Julia’s beautiful photographs of my old neighbourhood, Fitzroy, in Melbourne. I do love this little corner of Melbourne.

I hope you’ve made a great start to 2015 and you’re full of inspiration for making this year one of your greatest!
