After travelling by ferry from Split, this is how two days in Hvar were spent. I’ll let the photos above speak for themselves. Lots of wandering, swimming and eating happened. Perfection.
A few tips:
— Get up early and go walking. Hvar is a busy place and it’s so much more special when the crowds are still sleeping.
— If you’re looking for a quiet spot to swim, head in the westerly direction from the Hvar harbour and walk for around 20 minutes until you find a quieter nook.
— Don’t miss the most mouthwatering tuna steaks and seafood platters at Marinero restaurant at some of the best prices in town. Tuna steaks for 60 kuna (8 euros)? Yes please!
— A day trip to the nearby Pakleni islands is an absolute must, especially Mlini beach. More to come on this spectacular spot later this week.
— For panoramic views over Hvar harbour and the Palkeni islands just off the coast, take the short hike up to the fortress, Fortica Španjola.
— Rent a scooter for the day and explore the island on your own terms!

We were just in Hvar for 3 days and loved every minute of it. Even the intense rain storms that rolled through yesterday. I wish we’d had more time to explore more of the Pakleni Islands, but we did love Jerolim. We’re in Vis now before heading on to Istria. We’re blogging as we go as well at AshlandDispatch.com. Our post about Hvar isn’t up yet but some about Turkey and our time in Greece, (Hydra is our favorite!) Love your photos, we will keep following along.
Hvar truly is a stunning place isn’t it Alex? I would have loved to visit Vis but the ferry schedules meant that I couldn’t make it work unfortunately. Your blog looks great — I look forward to your post on Vis! x
