Sunday Selections

April 12, 2015

Gosh, time is flying! I can’t believe that my stay in Australia is almost at its end. This past week in particular has gone by in a blink of an eye.

The week began with a lovely overnight stay at a dear friend’s beach house in Portsea, which meant rejuvenating morning walks on the beach like this. I can’t get enough of these! Like last week, this week was filled with catch ups with family and friends; we met a brand new baby and visited our dear grandparents. We also spent a few hours wandering around our old neighbourhood, Fitzroy, and reminiscing about old times. This photo was snapped around the corner from where we used to live. Something pretty exciting happened to our best friends this week too and you can read all about that in the links below. We’re now approaching the end of our little visit home, which always churns up a complicated set of emotions. Before I know it I’ll be back on the plane to Berlin so I’m determined to enjoy every last minute here!

Gertrude Street, Melbourne

Here are this week’s favourite links:

WATCH: This video brings back so many happy memories of travelling in Vietnam. I’d love to head back there soon.

READ: Our greatest aspiration in life is to be happy, right? It turns out that scientific research proves that spending money on experiences rather than things leads to much greater happiness in life. I knew I was doing something right! Read all about the research here.

EAT: I’m so excited for my best friends here in Australia who have just opened up their own brand new cafe: Crompton. I love the concept at Crompton: it’s Melbourne’s first toast cafe! Think inch-thick slices of artisanal bread layered with the most delicious, fresh toppings such as fig, ricotta, honey and black pepper or pear, walnut and blue cheese. I’m so proud!

MAKE: Isn’t this a super idea? No more tea spillage on the couch for clumsy clots like me!

BUY: Everyone has their own favourite places, don’t they? Keep your memories alive by creating a visual reminder like this to hang in your home.

GO: Last week I received an invitation in my inbox to visit Cinque Terre and review some accommodation in this stunning region. Jessica Stein from Tuula Vintage is giving me loads of inspiration with her recent post, ‘Three Days Exploring Cinque Terre’.

Hoping your week ahead is full of positive vibes!

Great article about spending money on experiences rather than things. I started doing that last year and I can’t tell you how great it feels. Definitely encourage others to collecting moment not things. :)

It’s so much more fulfilling isn’t it Eden? Our fondest memories come from experiences rather than material objects :)

Loved this post and I absolutely agree: spending money on experience rather than things is the best thing you can do. I’ve set this as my new years resolution this year and I already feel so much better.. You can’t measure happiness in things, can you?!

    Love from Austria,
    Kerstin
