Hey hey friends. Gosh, this weekend has been beautiful. Summer is sadly on its way out for all of us up here in the northern hemisphere and it’s leaving us with one last sweet last kiss. Wanting to capture Berlin’s summertime beauty from above before it begins to fade, I headed to a rooftop bar in Mitte with a friend for a few glasses of Rosé against this stunning backdrop last night. I don’t often call Berlin a beautiful city, but from up here at this magical moment, ‘beautiful’ does seem fitting.
If you follow along on Facebook, you may have seen the update about my visa situation. I had my dreaded appointment with the Ausländerbehörde (Foreigner’s Office) to apply for a Freelance Visa on Tuesday last week. Seeing as I quit my full-time job, I need to sort out another visa so I can stay in the country. My appointment was surprisingly pain-free. I was seen by someone who actually spoke a little English (a rarity here, let me assure you) and she explained that she needed to send my documents away for approval as to whether my work was of an economic benefit to Berlin. In the meantime, she extended my current visa until February — quite a generous extension of 6 months. I have to now wait for an answer on whether my application for a Freelance Visa will be granted or not but am more than happy that I have a little bit of leeway now with my extension. Fingers crossed!
One last thing — there’s only a few days left to enter August’s Instagram challenge so get gramming! As a tribute to summer, tag your most perfect summer moment with #MySummerCapture for your chance to be re-grammed on The Department of Wandering’s Instagram account or be featured in a roundup on the blog next week. There are some stunning posts so far and I can’t wait to choose my favourites.
