Happy Sunday! So you might have seen on Instagram and Snapchat (deptofwandering) that I spent most of last week up in Tropical North Queensland. Ben and I headed up to suss out some possible wedding venues and (eeeek!) we think we found the perfect one! We also took the opportunity to do some work with tourism operators up there to showcase some of the very best of the region, which will all be coming to your computer screen shortly. It’s been a good few years since I’ve been up that way and I had forgotten how breathtakingly beautiful it was and how lucky we are to have these natural wonders in our home. Despite the persistent rain — it rained A LOT — we were still able to explore the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation as well as enjoy two stunning and very different accommodation options. I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Here are this week’s favourite links:
WATCH: Wakeboarding in a tux in Amsterdam’s canals? Not the most hygienic of locations but entertaining nonetheless.
READ: So many truths in this piece on 14 things to remember as a self-employed person. Especially that bit about putting proper clothes on.
EAT: Salted watermelon margaritas. Summer in a cup.
MAKE: Love this idea for a celebration.
BUY: It’s been so rainy up in north Queensland and now it’s followed me back down to Melbourne! Feeling that a pair of these would be handy right about now.
GO: I’m not much of a camper, but when the landscape looks like this, you wouldn’t have to twist my arm too far.
xx
I know exactly where this photo was taken! What a beautiful place Port Douglas is!
Haha I bet you do! It’s so lovely up there 🙂
Hey Rachel, thanks for the list with the 14 things for self-employed people. Loved it and yes, proper clothes help a lot. I am fine in yoga leggins but the shirt has to be normal. Definitely nothing too lazy, otherwise I am getting nothing done. So excited to see soon more pictures where you went and if you already found your wedding location. Sounds all very exciting!
I’m definitely with you there, Mel! It needs to be comfy but not too comfy haha. I’m so keen to set a wedding date now and get things rolling. Can’t wait to share more of beautiful North Queensland with you soon! x
