Sunday Selections

September 28, 2014

Getting close to nature is food for the soul, right?

Today I took a slow stroll through the gorgeous Grunewald, the forested area within the central Berlin locality. With autumn’s fallen leaves crunching underfoot and with the warm light filtering through the yellowing trees, slow Sunday meanders like this are perfect for re-setting, sending out positive energy and preparing for the week ahead.

Pretty, isn’t it?

WATCH: I’m determined to make it to Scotland whilst I’m still living in Europe. This beautifully-produced short Vimeo film by Edinborough-based John Duncan showcases Scotland’s spectacular, raw beauty.

READ: Globetrotting chef and author Anthony Bourdain knows a thing or two about travel, that’s for sure, and his tips and tricks on ‘How to Travel’ shouldn’t be ignored.

EAT: Sweet potato has got to be one of my favourite winter vegetables and this delicious sweet potato soup with harissa and greens looks like a perfectly warming meal on a chilly evening. Yum.

MAKE: Now that the weather’s slowly cooling, the need to be prepared with sufficient winter woolies has popped into my radar. The knitting needles have come out and I’m starting with a boyfriend hat beanie this year. Wish me luck!

BUY: Investing in a few warmer pieces to take me through autumn is necessary. I’m in love with this coat.

GO: This Friday, Germans celebrate German Unity Day, one of the most important national holidays of the year. To take advantage of the long weekend, I’m off on a girls trip to Bad Harzburg, located on the northern fringe of the Harz mountains. Fun!

Have a happy week, all. Until next time!

Good luck with the beanie hat! I started knitting last year and I love it. It’s so therapeutic and relaxing, especially for those winter evenings when you don’t want to do anything but don’t want to sit and do nothing too. You can be productive without leaving the sofa!

I absolutely love that Scotland video, it looks so beautiful.

Thanks Monica! I also only started last year and I love it too. It’s so nice to switch off from the world and focus only on what your hands are doing!
Thanks for the blog love. I’ve been following along on your Egypt adventures on The Travel Hack — it looks incredible! Can’t wait to get there!

I totally agree here with Monica’s comment. Knitting is a therapeutic activity. She has explained it beautifully. :-)

Read a few more posts. Will come back again.
