I can’t believe the day is finally here! By the time this post goes live, we’ll already be at the airport, ready to jump on a plane to fly out to Indonesia for our honeymoon! We’ll be spending a blissful two-weeks away and I can’t wait to soak up every single moment. While we travel A LOT, a honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip and I know that it’s going to feel so much more special than our other trips. So, while we’re madly checking in for our flight and navigating airport security, I wanted to share some of the things I’m most looking forward to on my honeymoon.
The things I’m most looking forward to on my honeymoon:
1. Quality time where it’s just us
Even though Ben and I spend a lot of time together anyway (I mean, A LOT), I’m craving real, quality time away. When we’re at home we’re usually working or doing, everyday, mundane things. When we travel as well, quite often it’s on the back of a work trip, so we very rarely take real ‘holidays’. I know that we’ll really appreciate our honeymoon and it will feel so different to the other trips we take.
3. Leaving work behind for 2 weeks
Even though I will be snapping lots of photos and sharing lots on social media, what I’m really looking forward to is being away from my desk for two weeks. I won’t be doing any writing, I have purposefully accepted no commissions, have no impending deadlines while we’re away and I’ll be setting my email on ‘Out of Office’. Don’t worry – I WILL be writing lots of posts about the honeymoon after we return but I fully intend on soaking it all up in the moment while we’re there.
3. Creating some really special memories
Apart from spending our days blissing out pool-side, we also plan to do a few special activities that we probably wouldn’t do otherwise if it weren’t our honeymoon. Normally, we’re not ones to splash out on expensive tours or trips but I think we’ll make one or two exceptions on the honeymoon! One of the things I’m really excited to do is charter a luxury, private boat that we’ve booked for a snorkelling trip. I’d also LOVE to do a sunset horse ride along the beach together. I’ve never ridden a horse in my life and I think it would be so special!

4. ALL the cheap massages
If you’ve been to Indonesia, you’ll know that massages are CHEAP. I usually never book spa treatments at home (aside from the odd facial here and there – hello problem skin). They’re so expensive in Australia and I usually can’t justify the price. But in Indonesia they’re crazily cheap so I’m planning to go a little nuts over there.
5. Living that villa life
We’re staying in three BEAUTIFUL, luxury resorts in Indonesia and I am so looking forward to the luxe life. In each place we’re saying, we’ve booked a villa with a private pool (that was a non-negotiable for me). The resorts we’ve booked look next-level, you guys, especially Nihi Sumba Island.
6. Loved-up chats about the future
I know it sounds unbearably soppy but I’m SO looking forward to those dreamy, loved-up chats we’ll have about the next stage of our lives together. Sipping tropical cocktails, watching the sunset, gazing into each other’s eyes… did I make you want to vomit yet?
7. Daily yoga
Bali is a mecca for yoga lovers. Over the last few months, I’ve been really enjoying doing my weekly yoga classes so I definitely want to do A LOT of yoga on the honeymoon. At Nihi Sumba Island, daily yoga is included in the room rate, which I’m super excited about. I also really want to take a few classes up in Ubud, the spiritual centre of Bali.
