Even though I only had a few short weeks back home in Melbourne, I was determined that a few decent days were going to be spent down at the beach. While living in Berlin certainly has its perks, the oppressively long winters have certainly taken their toll on my body, slowly but surely depleting my Vitamin D stores. With a visit to Croatia last August being the last time I saw the coast — an unacceptably long stretch between beach visits for an Australian, I know — I yearned to feel the sand between my toes, the warm sun beaming down on my ghoulishly pale face and the soothing, gentle salty breeze once again.
So, within the first few days of being home, we threw some towels in the back of the car and headed south for about an hour to the Mornington Peninsula. This stretch of coastline is a popular getaway spot for Melbournians and I’m guessing these photos of Sorrento at sunset may give a little indication why. Have I said that I’m happy to be home yet?

Oh Vera, you must! It’s an easy day trip from the city, although you will probably want to spend more than a day! When are you planning to come to Melbourne? Be sure to check out the ocean side of the peninsula too — it’s a little more rugged but still just as spectacular! Enjoy!
Love Melbourne! Australia is honestly an incredible place to call home huh. I haven’t been back in well over a year, and it’s starting to weigh on me!
